Leon Lister is a storyteller working across filmmaking and photography. Their practice centers analog film and light, exploring themes of clairvoyance and the maternal within a phenomenological lens. Leon’s work in analog cinematography is distributed by The Criterion Channel and has screened at the Florence International Film Festival, Atlanta Film Festival, New Orleans Film Festival, Kinoskop Film Festival, and NoBudge Film Festival, among others. Most recently, they co-wrote, produced, and assistant directed the NYSCA-supported feature Backseat of the Couch and self-published their photo book White Sun. Leon holds a BFA in Film from Pratt Institute and is a MFA candidate at Rhode Island School of Design.
